Landscaping & Garden Design

Thoughtful, enduring gardens designed and built for the Mornington Peninsula. From concept planning and planting design through to full installation and ongoing care.

Gardens built to perform and endure.

LANDSCAPING & GARDEN DESIGN

A well-designed garden does more than look beautiful. It defines how a property feels to arrive at, how it functions through each season and how it holds its value long into the future. At NJR Landscapes, we approach every garden project with that longer view in mind.

We work with homeowners across the Mornington Peninsula who want their outdoor spaces to genuinely reflect the quality of their property. That means listening carefully to how you use your land, what you want from it and what the site itself demands, then designing something that achieves all three.

Our team manages the entire process from the initial consultation and concept design through to the final planting and handover. We source plants and materials through strong supplier relationships built over more than a decade on the Peninsula, which means better quality, better availability and better outcomes for every project we undertake.

Whether you are starting from bare earth on a new build, looking to transform an overgrown established garden or wanting to extend and refine what you already have, NJR Landscapes brings the expertise, the crew and the equipment to deliver it properly.

Everything your garden
project requires.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

Our landscaping and garden design service covers the full scope of work, from the first sketch through to the final mulch layer. Here is what we bring to every project.

01

Garden Design & Concept Planning

Every project begins with a thorough on-site consultation. We assess the land, understand how you use your outdoor space and develop a concept that responds to both. Our design process is collaborative and practical. We produce clear plans that show you exactly what is proposed before a single plant goes in the ground, so you can make informed decisions at every stage.

02

Planting Design & Species Selection

Selecting the right plants for a Mornington Peninsula property requires an understanding of local soils, prevailing winds, salt exposure in coastal areas and the seasonal extremes the region experiences. We specify plants that will thrive in your specific conditions, creating planting schemes that look considered through every season and require a realistic level of ongoing care.

03

Garden Bed Construction & Edging

Well-constructed garden beds are the foundation of a low-maintenance garden. We build beds with appropriate depth, drainage and soil preparation so that what goes into them has every chance of thriving. Clean, well-defined edging gives a garden structure and significantly reduces ongoing maintenance time by keeping lawn and garden clearly separated.

04

Mulching & Soil Preparation

Good soil is the foundation of a healthy garden. We assess and amend existing soils before any planting begins, incorporating organic matter, adjusting pH where necessary and ensuring drainage is appropriate for the plants being installed. Quality mulching follows every installation, protecting soil moisture, suppressing weeds and giving the garden a finished, cohesive appearance from day one.

05

Pruning & Garden Renovation

Established gardens often need significant work before new plantings can be introduced. We undertake full garden renovation projects, including the removal or hard pruning of overgrown specimens, reshaping of hedges and shrubs and the clearing of invasive species. Correct pruning at the right time of year sets plants up for strong regrowth and keeps the garden looking intentional rather than neglected.

06

Feature Trees & Structural Planting

The right tree in the right position transforms a property. Feature trees provide scale, shade, privacy and seasonal interest that no other element in a garden can replicate. We advise on species selection, sourcing and positioning to ensure feature trees serve their purpose for decades, and we have the equipment to install large advanced specimens that most landscapers cannot handle.

07

Turf & Lawn Establishment

A quality lawn requires more than rolling out turf on bare ground. Correct sub-base preparation, grading for drainage and soil conditioning are what determine whether a lawn establishes well and remains healthy long-term. We supply and install premium turf varieties suited to Peninsula conditions, prepare the ground properly and provide guidance on establishment care to set your lawn up for success.

08

Land Clearing & Vegetation Management

Before a new garden can be established, the existing vegetation often needs to be removed. We undertake full land clearing for new builds, garden renovations and acreage properties, using our own machinery to remove trees, scrub, stumps and unwanted vegetation efficiently. Our tip-truck handles removal on-site, keeping your project moving without delays waiting for external contractors.

WHY NJR LANDSCAPES

The full service difference.

Most landscaping companies on the Mornington Peninsula focus on one area and refer the rest out. NJR Landscapes is different. With over a decade of experience, our own plant and machinery fleet and established trade relationships across the Peninsula, we can take complete responsibility for your garden project from start to finish.

That means one point of contact, one team on your property and one company accountable for the outcome. It is a simpler, more efficient way to get a garden project done properly.

Over a decade of Peninsula experience

We understand Peninsula soils, microclimates and conditions intimately. That local knowledge directly affects the quality of every design and installation decision we make.

Complete project management

We coordinate every aspect of your garden project, including trades, suppliers and scheduling, so you do not have to manage multiple contractors or chase progress.

Owned machinery on every site

Our excavators, dingo and tip-truck mean we can handle land clearing, earthworks and heavy installations without subcontracting, keeping your project on schedule and on budget.

Strong supplier relationships

A decade of buying from Peninsula nurseries and material suppliers means access to better stock, better pricing and first call on rare or advanced specimens that other landscapers cannot source.

Frequently asked.

COMMON QUESTIONS

  • Project timelines vary significantly depending on the scope of work. A garden bed installation and planting project for an established property might take two to five days. A full garden design and installation for a large acreage property, including earthworks, retaining walls, irrigation and planting, can take several weeks. We provide a clear timeline estimate at the quoting stage and keep you informed throughout. Our owned machinery means we are not dependent on subcontractor availability, which typically keeps our projects moving faster than most.

  • We handle both, and we strongly recommend engaging us for the full scope. When the same team designs and builds your garden, the design is always grounded in what is practically achievable on your specific site. There is no translation loss between a designer handing over plans to a separate contractor, and you have one point of accountability throughout. We also offer our services to clients who already have an existing design they would like us to build.

  • We work across the entire Mornington Peninsula, including Red Hill, Flinders, Merricks, Shoreham, Main Ridge, Portsea, Blairgowrie, Rye, Dromana, Mornington and all points in between. If you are unsure whether your property falls within our service area, get in touch and we will confirm. For larger projects, we are willing to discuss properties outside our standard area on a case by case basis.
